MacMail Configuration

Here are the basic steps to configure MacMail to access the email accounts hosted by VLM Technologies.

  1. Start up MacMail
     
  2. Click on the Mail item on the top menu, then choose the [Preferences] option.

  3. Click on the [Accounts] button on the top of the Preferences Menu

  4. Next click the plus sign near the bottom of the accounts screen, to create a new account.
  5. Set the Account Type to: POP3
     
  6. Fill in the other information as follows (order may vary with different versions of MacMail):
    • E-mail address: your email address e.g. jeff@zrgmail.com
       
    • Full Name: your name as you wish for it to appear in the from field of your emails e.g. Jeff Studley
    • Incoming Mail Server: This will be your domain name with mail. in front of it e.g. mail.zrgmail.com
       
    • User Name: This needs to be your username with @ domain name e.g. jeff@zrgmail.com
       
    • Password: You can fill this in and the program will not ask for the username on start up or if you leave it blank each time you start the program it will ask for your input. Whichever you do is your choice.
       
    • SMTP Server: This will be your domain name with mail. in front of it e.g. mail.zrgmail.com

    • Click the Server Settings button to open the smtp server options screen

    • From the [Authentication] drop down menu select [Password]
    • Fill in your Username and Password and click on OK to return to the Accounts screen
    • Save when prompted
